The 59th International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad was held from May 5 to 13 this year in Belo Horizonte (Brazil).<\/span><\/p>\n

40 countries took part in the Olympiad, which was a historical maximum. More details <\/span>here<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The competition lasted seven days and consisted of three rounds: two theoretical and one practical. This year, 192 schoolchildren took part in it, among whom 19 gold, 38 silver and 58 bronze awards were played out. Traditionally, 10% of the participants who showed the best results receive gold medals, the next 20% – silver and 30% – bronze.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Russian team included the winners of the final stage of the All-Russian School Olympiad (VsOSh), who were selected for the international Olympiad based on absolute points. There were 10 people in the team, and all of them received gold medals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A graduate of the NSU SESC, now the student of the school of the Center of Pedagogical Excellence (Moscow) Viktor Demidov became a gold medalist of the International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad. Viktor also participated in this Olympiad last year and won a silver medal. This year he improved his result. And here I would like to note that Viktor Demidov took part in the International Olympiad “Tuymaada” in Mathematics in 2023, where he won a 3rd degree diploma in the junior league.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the NSU SESC, a prize place in the Mendeleev Olympiad is considered a logical result of the work of a talented student and teachers. Viktor’s mentor was Nazim Mustafin, a silver medalist of the Mendeleev Olympiad in 2022, and earlier, in 2020, Stepan Epifantsev, a student of the NSU SESC, won the gold of the Olympiad. By the way, Stepan is also a participant in the International School Olympiad “Tuymaada”. In 2019, he became the absolute winner in chemistry in the junior league!<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

According to the teachers, “Tuymaada” for physics and mathematics schoolchildren is a kind of training before the upcoming Olympiad season, and for graduates – an opportunity to put an end to their school Olympiads.<\/span><\/p>\n

As Viktor notes, participation in the Olympiads brings only benefits.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
